Getting Connected

Getting Connected

There have been some changes to PLNU's campus network recently so please read this information if you are having some trouble. LomaReg, the computer registration process, is no longer being used in order for you to gain Internet access. All you are required to do is plug your Ethernet cable into a data port in your room. Please follow the instructions below if you are having problems. The ResCenter will be open beginning Monday, August 22, 2005 if you need further assistance.

Network IP Settings
Please check to make sure that your network settings are set to work on the PLNU campus network.

Windows 9x/2000/XP:  win
  • Click on "Network Connections" in the "Control Panel" (from the "Start" menu).
  • Right-click on the "Local Area Connection" and/or the "Wireless Network Connection" and select "Properties" (if you use both connections, check each one for the proper settings).
  • Scroll down to find "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" and double-click on it.
  • On the "General" tab, check that both options are configured to obtain addresses automatically.
  • Close all windows by clicking "OK".

Mac OS:  mac

  • Click on the "Apple" menu, select "System Preferences", then select "Network".
  • On the "Show" menu, select "Built-in Ethernet" and /or "AirPort" and go to the "TCP/IP" tab (if you use both connections, check each one for the proper settings).
  • On the "Configure IPv4" menu, make sure that "Using DHCP" is chosen.
  • Click "Apply Settings" before exiting "System Preferences".

Network Connectivity Issue
If you receive an error message that says your identity could not be validated, uncheck the box indicated below. You will find these settings in the Network Connections section of the Control Panel. Right-click on "Local Area Connection" and select "Properties".
