WebMail

ITS has updated its WebMail software to provide greater flexibility and benefits to you.

  • A single point of login for all Staff, Faculty and Student WebMail logins
  • Security features such as the automatic logout that will occur if your session is left idle for more than 15 minutes
  • Greater browser/client functionality to manage your e-mail, contacts, tasks, and calendar

To take full advantage of the new feature set in WebMail, please look at the context-sensitive help section highlighted in red in the above screenshot.

If you are having trouble with WebMail, please verify the following before calling the Help Desk:

Where do I go to login to WebMail?  http://mail.pointloma.edu

What should I do if I try to login to WebMail and it doesn't accept my username and password?  If you are sure you are typing your password correctly (check the caps lock) go to my.pointloma.edu and change your password. Then use that new password to login to WebMail.

What is Outlook Web Access (OWA) WebMail?  Outlook Web Access ( PLNU's WebMail) is a feature of the MS Exchange server that permits it to deliver the e-mail in your mailbox to a Web client (i.e. Internet Explorer) instead of the standard desktop mail clients. WebMail allows you to check your e-mail from any computer (on or off campus) that has Internet access. The mailbox will be shown in HTML form and will appear on the desktop resembling MS Outlook in both form and functionality.

Why would I want to use WebMail?  This service is ideal for users who do not have MS Outlook or users who are traveling away from PLNU. WebMail uses an Internet browser to give most of the functionality of the full Outlook application. Remote users have access via the Web from any Internet access point available or via dial-up.
