WHEN RECEIVING AN 800 CALL: DO the following: - Always check the display when you answer your phone.
- The display will read 800#CALL . This call will bill to your department.
- Transfer the caller ONLY to other university departments
- When you transfer, tell the person answering that this is an 800#CALL
- Tell the receiving party that the call should NOT be transferred again.
DO NOT do the following : -Since 800 calls bill the receiver of the call, transferring a call transfers the billing. - NEVER transfer the call to another department, if your department has already had a lengthy conversation with the caller. Ask the caller to hang-up and dial again.
- NEVER transfer the call without telling the receiver this is an 800 call for which they will be billed.
- NEVER transfer the call to the switchboard.
- An 800#CALL should be transferred to a residence hall or into a student’s personal voice mail.
WHEN GIVING SOMEONE THE 800#, USE the 800# for: - Prospective students and their parents calling admissions or academic departments to obtain information about PLNU.
- Donors calling for the University Advancement office.
- Parents calling administrative offices while conducting PLNU business
- Any PLNU customer dealing with service problems
DO NOT USE the 800# for: - Any personal calls (employees, students, students working for PLNU)
- Vendors trying to conduct business with PLNU
- Inter-campus calling between Arcadia and San Diego (direct dial costs less)
- Calls from the San Diego area
