Private Calling Cards

Calling card companies charge a setup fee per call of $.35-$.85 which affects the true cost per minute. For example a 10 minute call on a card that supposedly charges $.10 per minute would end up costing $.135 per minute with just a $.35 service fee added to the call. Please pay close attention to the details when comparing calling cards and calling plans. Although these cards provide a convenience when placing calls from off campus, they are generally far more expensive than PLNU telephone service when used on campus.


If a student has a calling card, they will be able to use it from their residence hall phone. The Office of Telecommunications has established the following policies:


Calling cards must bill to the individual student, not to the residence hall phone number.


POINT LOMA WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY CALLS PLACED VIA CALLING CARDS.


Detail of long distance calls billed to a calling card will not appear on the telephone bill.


PLEASE NOTE THAT YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO MAKE OPERATOR ASSISTED CALLS
SINCE PLNU IS NOT ABLE TO BILL FOR THEM.
