Category Descriptions

Publication

• Include only items that have been published (printed), not items that are forthcoming (items that have not yet come out in print).
• Include Point Loma Press publications.
• Under "Specify" enter the type of publication (e.g. book, article, review of book or article, devotional, essay, chapter, editorial, research for a book, poetry, editorial work, etc.).
• Please include co-authors if any.
• If a review, please give full information of the work reviewed.
• Include all information necessary for a full bibliographical citation of the work.

Sabbatical Award or Project

•  Give explicit information including time frame, award amount, any project worked on during that time, etc.

Grants (Research, Instructional, or Developmental)

• If award funds from external organization, state type of grant: research, instructional, or developmental.
  
• Include both institutional awards (Wesleyan Center, RASP, CTL, Alumni Assoc.) and awards from other institutions.
• Include funds for institutional use, including Foundations for research and endowment grants, i.e. National Science of Lilly Endowment Planning Grant.

Conference Paper or Presentation

• Include papers and presentations given at a professional conference, in your professional field.
• Do not include presentations made with students; joint efforts with students are in areas so named.
• If your accomplishment does not seem to fall into one of the specific categories listed, please select the closest category and write your accomplishment in the sentence section as "other: ... ."
  

Faculty-Student Research Presentation or Project

• Include research projects with students that are undertaken on-campus.
• Include research projects with students that have been presented at professional conferences, or to professional clients off-campus.
• Include name of student(s).
• If your accomplishment does not seem to fall into one of the specific categories listed, please select the closest category and write your accomplishment in the sentence section as "other: ... ."

Performance, Recital or Exhibit

• Include activities performed in your professional field, and to professional audiences in fulfillment of your professional role at PLNU.
• Do not include activities performed for volunteer work or community service.
• If your accomplishment does not seem to fall into one of the specific categories listed, please select the closest category and write your accomplishment in the sentence section as "other: ... ."

 Professional Lecture, Presentation, or Panelist

• Include off-campus speaking engagements to professional organizations in your field and lecture series on-campus in your professional field.
• Include speaking engagements where you are called upon to share your expertise as a professional, in your discipline, to other professionals.
• Do not include one-time lectures to PLNU classes, community service, or volunteer work.

Professional Consulting Activities

• Include both paid and unpaid consulting projects for professional clients, which are contracted based on the professional expertise you hold in your field.

Initiative, Project, or Professional Service

• Include initiatives undertaken individually by you or your department to enhance the education of your students. These should be innovative and distinct, relevant to other professionals in university higher education, and show effort beyond the call of duty on your part.
• For example, planning and hosting a professional conference, or planning an event that distinctly enhances the education of students would be appropriate to include here.

Professional Awards, Honors, Elections & Appointments

• Include honors bestowed by a professional organization in your field.
• Include elections to offices held in professional organizations in your field and involvement in professional organizations that enhance your role at PLNU.
• Do not include elections or appointments to offices, honors received, or duties performed for community service, volunteer work or personal enhancement.
• If your accomplishment does not seem to fall into one of the specific categories listed, please select the closest category and write your accomplishment in the sentence section as "other: ... ."

Doctoral Program Completed

• Include the degree received, date, the granting institution and its location (city, state), the title of the dissertation/thesis along with a brief description.

Local Media

• Include media items that were initiated by someone else because of your professional expertise.
• Please give full information (date, station/show, newspaper/page number, purpose, etc.)

Other

• Any other professional item that did not fit into a category
