City Heights Resource Center

4101 University Avenue
San Diego, CA 91950
(619) 849-2659

The City Heights Resource Center includes the CJR office, a library, a hospitality room and a computer lab As a low-income area that is home to 80,000 residents of various ethnic and national backgrounds, City Heights offers an opportunity to better understand the social impacts of impoverished communities undergoing rapid demographic change. Lessons learned from working in City Heights provide a model and training ground for lifelong learners who are committed to working toward a more just and sustainable world for all.

The CJR sponsors a Resource Center in the interest of increasing the university's presence in City Heights, providing a space that houses the coordination of the various CJR programs, research projects, interns and scholars, and as a place where the latest resources pertinent to the study of poverty and inequality are concentrated. Access to the resource center is available by appointment.

For our library, we are indebted to Vernon Mitchell for his donation of thousands of books from his own library. This collection reflects years of study in the prophetic traditions of Christian and Jewish scriptures and history.
