Sue Crider Atkins has been a professor at PLNU for the most recent seven years of her 30-year teaching career. She partners with colleagues in Literature, Journalism and Modern Languages; Communication and Theatre; and the Fermanian School of Business to offer public relations, literature, writing, and print, broadcast, and multimedia journalism courses. Atkins strives to provide her students with the best theoretical and practical instruction possible. Underscoring all her teaching is a commitment to a story well-told.
Atkins is the co-founder of what is now the Washington Journalism Center of the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities. She has her master’s and doctorate in English from the University of Alabama and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Missouri.
In addition to her professional and teaching endeavors, Atkins engages with students and colleagues on the tennis courts and in walks around campus. She is married to Peter Atkins of Auckland. Since their marriage 11 years ago, she has gained three sets of married children and six grandchildren in New Zealand and Thailand.
