(San Diego, Calif. – Aug. 4, 2009) – Much national attention has been focused on the healthcare system, and Point Loma Nazarene University and Scripps Health are committed to making a positive difference in the industry. To this end, the Fermanian School of Business is pleased to announce that the PLNU MBA program has entered into an educational partnership with Scripps.

Scripps currently provides clinical education programs for its 10,000-plus employees and their dependents in the San Diego County area from Oceanside to Chula Vista. Beginning in fall 2009, Scripps post-graduate education offerings will include the PLNU MBA as the first non-clinical option. Scripps is offering employees who complete the program tuition reimbursement in addition to scholarship opportunities.

“We feel fortunate to have some of the best people for the job right here at Scripps, so promoting growth and development for our employees is very important to us,” said Vic Buzachero, corporate senior vice president, human resources. “We chose PLNU’s MBA program because it offered an ideal combination of flexibility and affordability for our employees. PLNU was also willing to work with us to develop courses geared toward the health care industry.”

Scripps employees in marketing, human resources, and other non-clinical roles will benefit from taking courses both at PLNU’s Mission Valley Regional Center and at the Scripps Learning Center.

The Fermanian School of Business is excited about partnering with Scripps,” said Bruce Schooling, Ph.D., dean of PLNU’s Fermanian School of Business. “Together we are committed to providing outstanding academic programs in the context of integrity and professionalism.”
