Dr. Lynn Reaser, most recently Bank of America’s Chief Economist for its Investment Strategies Group in Boston, will join Point Loma Nazarene University as its Chief Economist on August 1, 2009. Reaser currently holds the role of the Vice-President of the National Association for Business Economics, which is one of the leading global organizations committed to using current economic data to assist in sound business decisions. Reaser will serve through 2009 in leading a study on the feasibility of creating a cutting-edge regional Economic Institute.

PLNU President Dr. Bob Brower stated “We are pleased that Dr. Reaser has decided to bring her formidable skills and voice to the San Diego region. The possibility of establishing PLNU as one of the leading economic, policy and business resources for our community is of great interest to us.” Reaser has spoken at PLNU several times on behalf of Bank of America. With the many critical economic issues it is intended that Reaser will be able to provide a prominent voice that for the San Diego region.

Ms. Julie Meier-Wright, President and CEO of the San Diego Economic Development Corporation commented “I know Dr. Lynn Reaser well and we served together on the State of California’s Economic Strategy Panel, and Lynn was an active, involved member of the panel. She had outstanding input and perspective, and despite subsequently living outside of California for several years and charged with a national perspective, her insight on California continues to be on the mark and important to our state.”

Working with the faculty and staff of the Fermanian School of Business at PLNU, Reaser will be preparing an economic forecast to be published this fall, as well as speaking at many events. She is also part of a PLNU Task Force that is investigating the creation of a Regional Economic Institute committed to actionable economic analysis for the San Diego region. Examples of this proposed Institute’s focus could be sustainable business, science and technology, small business and the Mega-Region Initiative of the San Diego Economic Development Corporation. A final decision on the proposed Institute will be made in Fall 2009.
