Point Loma Nazarene University has a master logo, an athletics logo and an academic seal for use on its printed materials intended for distribution outside the university. They are not intended for individuals or groups not affiliated with the university. However, permission to use the logos and the academic seal should be requested directly through the office of the President.
Master logo
The university master logo should be used in its entirety with both the amphitheatre symbol and the accompanying words “Point Loma Nazarene University.” The symbol should never be used without the signature type. The type may be used without the amphitheatre symbol, as the signature of the university. However, the symbol should never be used without the signature type.
The master logo has the symbol on top of the signature and has a minimum width requirement of 1.25 inches. The horizontal version of the logo has a minimum width requirement of 1.5 inches. The signature-only version has a minimum width requirement of seven-eights of an inch. Anything smaller than these becomes illegible after reproduction.
Academic seal
The seal is the academic identifier for the university. It should be used when an official academic identity is needed, such as Commencement collateral, diplomas, transcripts, etc. The seal cannot be substituted for the master logo. The three symbols on the academic seal represent grace ( venia / the cup), truth ( veritas / the Scriptures) and holiness ( sanctitas / the dove).
Mascot logo
The mascot logo features a roaring lion emerging from the rolling tides of the Pacific. It is used as an identifier for athletic and student programs, both within the university and on school gift products and fan merchandise.
To increase the flexibility of its usage, several logo options have been created. They should be used in their entirety with both the Sea Lion symbol and the accompanying text.
Alterations
Logos and the academic seal should never be altered, stretched, outlined, modified, given drop shadows or enclosed in shapes, traced or redrawn.
University colors
The official colors of the university are Pentone 343 (green) and Pentone 872 (gold). If metallic inks are not available, Pentone 125 (gold) can be used.
