The role of Media Relations is to facilitate interaction between the campus community at PLNU and the local media. If there’s something or someone that warrants media attention, Media Relations will work as a bridge to ensure that the story gets told, by informing the local print and television media and encouraging their involvement in newsworthy events. Media Relations can also serve as a guide to the local media by providing important information about PLNU, its campus, faculty, students and events. If they call with questions, Media Relations will have the answers. In addition, we will also point media in the right direction when they need to enlist faculty members as “experts” on different topics or subjects. The job also entails keeping the campus as a whole up to date on what’s going on in Lomaland, by updating the Web site and calendar, and by profiling faculty and student accomplishments. For faculty, staff or students who will be interviewed, Media Relations can provide tips on how to prepare statements, look comfortable on camera, and how to guide the direction of the interview. It is the goal of Media Relations to help present PLNU as both an academic and spiritual force for higher education in the 21st Century. With your help, we can open people’s eyes and allow them to see all of the great stories that PLNU has to offer, both in San Diego and around the world.
