Team Barnabas Exists To...

Engage new students in campus events, student services, etc.

Connect and guide new students to the campus culture.

Serve as a resource to new students as a "walking referral system."

Build community by encouraging new students in real relationships.

What is Mentoring?

One of the main factors in student success - particularly at the freshman level - is connection. Students succeed because they are comfortable at the university, understand how it works, and feel part of the community. For students to feel these kinds of connections, they need to form meaningful relationships with other student (as well as staff and faculty).

Why a Mentoring Program?

Team Barnabas facilitates such connections. Team Barnabas provides student-focused assistance and advice on how to succeed. The First-Year-Experience holds many challenges. Studies show that students who have a friendly, knowledgeable person with whom to talk feel more satisfied at the end of the year than those who do not.
