 This year PLNU MUSICALumni is planning a very special celebration to honor Dr. Dan Nelson. Dan has been a key figure in the Music Department for the past 18 years, most visibly with the Concert and Jazz Bands. However, his influence on his many students goes much deeper. PLNU recently announced that Dr. Nelson is stepping down from his teaching duties because of ongoing health issues. He has been very open over the years in allowing us to walk through this journey with him. We are privileged to continue to do so now. So, what can you do?
1. Mark your calendars for the following events on Homecoming weekend:
- Thursday evening, Nov. 19, 7:30 p.m. - Fall Musicale Concert in Crill Hall celebrating Dan’s contributions to PLNU.
- Saturday afternoon, Nov. 21, 2:00 p.m. - MUSICALumni reception in Cooper Parlor honoring Dan Nelson.
2. Share Memories by contributing to a scrapbook that will be presented to Dr. Nelson at Homecoming Weekend. Go to www.celebrateahero.com, click on "Invited Guests" tab and enter Book ID 826150. Entries must be in by Nov. 1!
3. Ask questions of the Music Department (619-849-2325) or Beryl Pagan (619.849.2350).
4. Write a note of encouragement to Dan. Email Dan or send mail to him c/o Betsy Northam at the PLNU Music Office, 3900 Lomaland Dr., San Diego, CA 92106. He would love to hear from you.
