July 16, 2009 One of the biggest changes this year is that registration is now online! This has numerous advantages, including better record-keeping and giving a realistic method for referral rebates. This also means that we will not have the big parent meeting some of you have come to expect at the beginning of each school year. --- August 21, 2008 We are gearing up for a new year in the string project. Note a few changes:
- We are trying to do all of our registration and fee collection at the September 12th 4-6p parent meeting, so please come and be ready to do this.
- We will not collect for flowers-for-teachers but will purchase them out of the string project fund.
- Our 3 levels now have the following names: Beginning Class, Symphony Orchestra, and Chamber Orchestra. If your child was in "Advanced Orchestra" last year, he/she will automatically be in the Chamber Orchestra. All other returning students will be in Symphony Orchestra. Please note the schedules for each of these 3 levels at the Schedule and Calendar link.
Stay tuned to this page in case we need to give you additional updates. September 12, 2007 New office staff are joining the string project to make things run more smoothly. Betsy Northam, who already manages the PLNU Cultural Series, is bringing her organizational skills to the management of registration details, and Carolyn Parfet, a Teacher Apprentice Alumnus, is managing day-to-day record keeping and communications for the project. We welcome these capable ladies to their new roles and appreciate their willingness to help the project in these ways. August 25, 2007 We are thrilled to announce the appointment of Jane Frey as the new Master Teacher of Point Loma String Project. Jane brings energy, enthusiasm, and excitement to this position, as well as an impressive resume. Our Teacher Apprentices and your children couldn't be in better hands. The teachers already are preparing for the new school year. August 24th marked the first teacher meeting leading up to the first parent meeting on September 14th, and the first string project classes the week of September 24. (See the appropriate Schedule and Calendar for details.) The teachers are dividing up various administrative tasks as well as getting their minds into what and how they will teach. This is a fine group of Teacher Apprentices!
