Alice Crill Honored May 15

On Thursday, May 15, Alice Crill will be honored at Rhapsody on the Point for her dedication to the children of the Peninsula Community. Crill, age 94, has lived a life full of music. First teaching at Bethany Nazarene College (today Southern Nazarene University), Crill went on to serve as a church organist and music teacher. Her husband, Chester C. Crill, served on the music faculty at Point Loma Nazarene University. Today, Alice Crill is still teaching music. In addition, two endowed scholarships she and Chester established continue to provide for Point Loma Nazarene University students. The Chester C. Crill Performance Hall on PLNU’s campus was named in their honor.

Rhapsody on the Point will be held in Crill Hall at 6 p.m. The event will include hors d’oeuvres, a silent auction, and, of course, a concert. Featured musicians will be concert pianist Bryan Verhoye and the Point Loma High School Symphonic Winds. Tickets are $40 and all proceeds will benefit the Point Loma High School Music Department.
