In March, Point Loma Nazarene University was named one of the “Best Christian Workplaces” according to an annual survey conducted by the Best Christian Workplace Institute (BCWI).
The survey involved more than 11,000 employees in 93 organizations across the United States to identify great workplaces with a Christian mission and/or values. The finalists were broken up by number of employees and type of organization. PLNU was one of only three finalists in the Large Organizations (500+ employees) category, joining Indiana Wesleyan University (Marion, IN) and Wycliffe Bible Translators (Orlando, FL).
According to BWCI, the organizations on the list are exemplified by “leadership teams that demonstrate integrity and compassion for their employees.” The BCWI has surveyed more than 50,000 employees across North America in five years, since the list was first compiled. According to Al Lopus, president of BCWI, organizations on the list tend to have a higher level of employee engagement, which is manifested in five ways: a commitment for learning, a culture of character, a competence of management, a climate for action, and fair total compensation.
