At Point Loma Nazarene University’s annual Business Breakfast on Friday, Sept. 28, the inaugural Dealmaker of the Year awards were announced and presented to the winners.
The awards recognize unique area individuals, firms, and events that exemplify creativity, value, innovation, success, and ethical practices that set the standard for the San Diego business community. Celebrating an integration of a high standard of business ethics and community, human, and economic value, the awards were presented to these winners in the following categories:
William Jones - Individual
NTC Promenade / NTC Foundation - Firm
Market Creek Plaza - Deal Of the Year
Recipients of the Dealmaker of the Year awards are determined by representatives of the Fermanian School of Business, the Business Advisory Board of the FSB, and the PLNU Alumni in Business Auxiliary. There was also a special "Partnership of the Year" presented to Junior Achievement for their multi-faceted involvement with PLNU's Fermanian School of Business.
In addition to the Dealmakers ceremony, approximately 300 people attended the breakfast, which is an event that allows students, faculty and staff, and local industry leaders to meet and network. Speakers were Jessie Knight, Jr. from Sempra Energy and PLNU President Bob Brower. Knight praised the Fermanian School of Business for their good work producing graduates of high academic standards, moral integrity, and strong work ethic. He also challenged the students in attendance to focus on gaining more knowledge about business law and civic responsibility, among their areas of study.
