The university is pleased to welcome its new Director of Community Development, Mark Marney. As Director of Community Development, Mark will be responsible for management, oversight, and leadership of significant external strategic initiatives on behalf of the university. He will also build and maintain strong relationships with governmental agencies and nonprofit groups and other strategic relationships.
Mark brings expertise in planning and development and will assist us with building charitable interest in the San Diego region. Under his leadership, the office of Community Development will serve as the primary point of contact for neighbor relations, to track local, state, and federal legislation that may impact PLNU, and assist, when requested, with campus planning.
Mark comes to PLNU from a long tenure at the City of San Diego Park and Recreation Department. He has significant background in planning, development, and management of facilities. Mark's most recent position was Assistant Director of Golf Operations and was officed at Torrey Pines. During his tenure at San Diego Park and Rec, he was a significant author of the master plan for Sunset Cliffs Natural Park.
Behind Mark's experience is a degree in Landscape Architecture from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. He has a MBA from PLNU and a license to practice as a landscape architect in the State of California.
