The Dealmaker of the Year awards, presented by the Fermanian School of Business (FSB) at Point Loma Nazarene University, recognize unique area individuals, firms, and events that exemplify creativity, value, innovation, success, and ethical practices that set the standard for the San Diego regional business community. The awards celebrate an integration of a high standard of business ethics and community, human, and economic value.
The FSB is currently seeking nominations for this year’s awards. All members of the San Diego regional business community are encouraged to submit applications for consideration for any or all the award categories (Individual, Firm, Opportunity/Event), by visiting www.pointloma.edu/dealmakers or calling (619) 849-2692. The deadline for submitting a nomination is Sept. 1, 2007.
"At the Fermanian School of Business, frequently we speak about creating value that is long-term, sustainable, and innovative,” said Dr. Bruce Schooling, dean of the Fermanian School of Business. “The Dealmaker of the Year awards are intended to draw special attention to the individuals, firms, and transactions that do just that.”
The awards will be presented at the FSB’s first annual Business Breakfast, held Friday, Sept. 28 at The Dana on Mission Bay from 7 to 9 a.m. Recipients of the Dealmaker of the Year awards are chosen by representatives of the FSB, the Business Advisory Board of the FSB, and the PLNU Alumni in Business Auxiliary. In addition, any and all businesses are welcome to become an event sponsor.
"Our institutional mission is comprised of the three components of academic excellence, integrated values, and active engagement with our many stakeholders,” added Randy Ataide, director of the Fermanian Business Center. “The Dealmakers awards are a reflection of these elements, and the Fermanian Business Center's goal of being a bridge to the business community, including recognizing and honoring excellence in our community."
The guest speakers at the event are Jessie Knight, Jr., executive vice president for Sempra Energy and PLNU President Dr. Bob Brower. Business professionals who are in attendance will have a chance to network with more than 100 business-minded PLNU students at their specific industry tables. Premier Sponsors for the breakfast include Bank of America, Bartell Hotels, New York Life, Summeripe Worldwide, Merrill Lynch, Northwestern Mutual, Kyocera, Soul Ryde Longboards, and Gatto, Pope & Walwick, LLP. Sponsorship opportunities are still available by calling (619) 849-2692.
