PLNU’s senior debate team continues to earn victories

One of Point Loma Nazarene University's top senior division debate teams, Tim Kamermayer and Griffith Vertican, won yet another debate tournament last weekend. Kamermayer and Vertican traveled to Wheaton University near Chicago and competed against 40 teams from more than a dozen states to win the Wheaton tournament. They defeated some very good teams in their preliminary rounds and elimination rounds, including Cedarville University in the quarterfinals, Colorado College in semifinals and the University of Notre Dame in the final round. Kamermayer also won the Seventh Place Speaker award.

The PLNU team would like to extend its thanks to Professor Konrad Hack, director of forensics at Wheaton University, and the entire Wheaton team for housing and feeding the two Point Loma debaters, waiving the entry fees and judging fees, and making it possible to add the tournament to the PLNU schedule. Hack is the former assistant director of the forensics team at PLNU, a post he held for five years.

The PLNU debate team will participate in two tournaments during the upcoming weekends; the PSCFA Spring Champs at L.A.Valley College Feb. 23-35, and NCCFA Christian College Nationals hosted by Cal Baptist University on March 2-4.
