The School of Nursing presented the second annual Advanced Practice Nursing Awards on May 4. The awards recognize excellence in the fields of nursing education and advanced practice nursing. The keynote speaker was PLNU alumna Dr. Patricia Benner, director of a national nursing rducation research project under the auspices of the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement in Teaching and co-principal director of a project entitled "Clinical Knowledge Development of Nurses in an Operational Environment." Dr. Benner shared some of her most current research in her talk.
Five awards were presented. The recipients were:
- Lois Wagner, MN, RN, CS - CNS Mental Health
- Jeanne Jimenez, MSN, RN, CNS - CNS Family Health
- Barbara Bailey, MS, RN - CNS Gerontology
- Beth Palmer, DNP, RN, ANP-BC, CNS - CNS Medical Surgical
- Evelyn Anderson, Ph.D., RN - Nursing Education
