About Nicholson Commons

About Nicholson Commons Unknown (or inaccessible) property:CurrentPageVersion.PageID
In 1988, Dr. Barry Cunningham became the Vice-President for Student Development. During his two year of service, Cunningham began raising money to build a new Student Commons. His goal was to raise between $5-8 million dollars, before they could start the project. After the projected $5 million was reached, Darryl Nicholson (68) and his wife, Vicki Nicholson (71) announced that they would donate one million dollars to complete the process.

The Nicholson family has a long running history with PLNU. From professors to secretaries the family has been involved with student growth. Work for the Nicholson Commons began in 1997. Other key players in making the dream of the Nicholson Commons come true were then President Jim Bond, Dr. Gordon Golsan, Dr. Dana Walling, Scott Shoemaker, John Nelson and Tim Hall.

Five years later, the Nicholson Commons is still a place where students, faculty and staff can call home.
