Now is a great time to pursue an advanced nursing practice. The current nursing shortage and the move to achieve magnet status within the hospital systems has created a demand for both academically and clinically trained advanced practice nurses. The M.S.N. program is designed for working professionals and allows a full-time student to complete the program in two years. Classes are held on Tuesday evenings and every other Saturday morning. Students are enrolled once a year in the fall to a specific cohort and complete all course with that group. The program is focused on nursing education with one of four clinical specialty areas:
- Medical/Surgical
- Mental Health
- Family Health
- Gerontology
A Clinical Nurse Specialist option is available in the same four specialty areas. Post-MSN certification is offered for Nurse Educator and Clinical Nurse Specialist. Part-time options are available for all of the graduate nursing programs. For specific information about Point Loma's M.S.N. program, please see the Graduate Nursing Program Web site.
