The Institutional Review Board (IRB) has been charged with the development of review procedures to enhance the capacity of the institution to protect the participants of research performed by faculty/staff and students of the institution.

The annual schedule of IRB meetings is listed on this website.

The policy and procedures for the IRB are written in full detail on this website.

There are three categories of research proposals. All three types must be personally submitted to the IRB mailbox located in Culbertson Hall. The submission procedures for each category are listed below.

 

Submission Procedure for Exempt from Further, Detailed Review

  • Completed "Proposal Cover Sheet"
  • Completed "Section A"
  • Accepted continuously (submit to IRB chair)
  • Response from IRB within 3 days

Submission Procedure for Expedited Review
  • Completed "Proposal Cover Sheet"
  • Completed "Section B"
  • Accepted weekly (Wednesdays by 4:00 p.m.)
  • Response from IRB within one week

Submission Procedure for Full Review
  • Completed "Proposal Cover Sheet"
  • Completed "Section C"
  • If research participants are 17 years of age or younger, an "Assent Form" written in age-appropriate language
  • Accepted four times per semester (see schedule, submit to IRB Chair)
  • Response from IRB in one week after meeting
