Point Loma's 300 Kw PV solar system is up and running! These panels are not only beautiful, but they demonstrate PLNU's commitment to creation care. The solar panel system will help contribute to a cleaner, less-polluted environment in California by offsetting electrical generation by conventional fossil-fuel. A photovoltaic project of this size:
- reduces carbon dioxide emissions equal to removing 1,110 cars from our San Diego highways
- will offset the emission of more than 6,300 tons of dangerous pollutants such as NOx, SO2, and CO2.
- require 1,715 acres of new tropical rainforest to reduce an equivalent amount of Carbon Dioxide.
This projected is the result of dedicated work from students, faculty, and staff who united on the common interest of bringing clean renewable energy to campus.
