Q: Who is my Advisor?

A: You can access your Advisor information through the Web; login to Student Access and select Biographical; it is listed under the “Advisor” section of the page.

Q: When/where do I meet with my Advisor? When/where do I sign-up?

A: Make an appointment with your Advisor during Advising Chapel. Each professor will have a sign-up sheet posted by their office. Be sure to plan your schedule prior to meeting with your advisor.


Q: How do I get approval for a class?

A: Check with the course catalog if you need “consent of instructor” for a course. You will need to obtain approval from the relevant faculty member (note: this person may be different than your advisor). Courses that require consent are: PSY270/470, PSY341, PSY345, PSY490, and PSY499
  • PSY341 Group Counseling

    • Must complete an application and return to Psych Dept Assistant (this does not guarantee registration) 
    • Add your name to the sign-up sheet in Culbertson Hall 
    • Contact your section professor for an short interview 
    • Professor will notify you when approved and authorize you for registration
  • PSY345 Group Dynamics

    • Priority sign up sheet in Culbertson Hall (this does not guarantee registration) 
      • Priority is based on the following: 
        • Current Status (Senior, Junior, etc) 
        • Major
        • Minor 
    • Professor will notify you when approved and authorize you for registration

Q: Can I take a course with its prerequisite concurrently?

A: Some professors allow students to take a course with its prerequisites concurrently. You must obtain clearance from the professor teaching the course (not the Department Chair or your Advisor) prior to registration.

Q: When can I take PSY101 Psychology of Personal Development?

A: This course is available to first-time freshman students with fewer than 24 units; all others take PSY103.
