Incident and Crime Reporting The PLNU Department of Public Safety investigates campus-related incidents and notifies the San Diego Police Department when required. The university strongly encourages victims and witnesses to report all crimes and incidents to the Department of Public Safety immediately, regardless of their nature. Prompt reporting of suspicious activity will deter crime and prevent future harm to the campus community. If an individual's actions are out of character and you become suspicious, call the department of Public Safety at ext. 2525 and a Community Service or Public Safety Officer will assess the situation and take the appropriate action. Crime Awareness and Campus Security Act (Clery Act of 1990)
In 1990, Congress enacted the Crime Awareness and Campus Security Act (Title II of Public Law 101-542). Also known as the Jeanne Clery Act, this act required all postsecondary institutions participating in Title IV student financial aid programs to disclose campus crime statistics and security information.
In compliance with Clery Act requirements, Point Loma Nazarene University makes its policies available as well as disseminating crime and incident statistics to the campus community.
Clery Act campus crime statistics are compiled for the previous calendar year and posted the following October.
The crime statistics for Point Loma Nazarene University and its satellite campuses for the 2006 calendar year are available in electronic format only.
