Campus Access
During the school year, the
population of PLNU is over 2,500, the size of a small town with its own
vulnerability to crime. Even though a car or truck can only enter the
campus through the main entrance, there are numerous places for a
person to walk onto the campus. When you park on campus,
remember to lock your vehicle and consider investing in a steering
wheel locking device and/or alarm. During the evening hours use the
shuttle service provided by the department of Public Safety. Regardless
of the time of day or night, be alert and aware of your surroundings
and exercise common sense safety precautions. Even though there is a
Welcome Center at the entrance to PLNU, the City of San Diego does not
allow personnel to stop vehicles from driving through the campus during
daylight hours to obtain access to the coastal viewing area along
Sunset Cliffs Park. Safety In Numbers - Sunset Cliffs ParkIf you wish to take a walk or jog through Sunset Cliffs Park, which is located between PLNU and the Pacific Ocean, it is strongly
recommended that you go with a friend or in a group. During the night
time hours it is suggested that you stay out of the park because of
increased criminal activity. The crime rate in this park is higher
than that reported for on campus crime. To view the crime rate for this area use the following link: then view Sunset Cliffs under the most recent date for "Actual Crimes by Neighborhood" category.
