Circulation (619-849-2312)
The loan period for Ryan Library books is 3 weeks. PLNU Faculty/Staff/Students may renew books for an additional 3 weeks one time only. Renewals may be requested using
My Library Account or by calling the Circulation desk. Users must present a Library Identification Card or Point Loma photo ID card when checking out materials. Users are responsible for all items checked out in their name and will be charged a non-refundable fee if items are not returned.
Periodicals
Current issues of periodicals are located in Reference. Back issues may be kept in paper copies, bound issues or microforms. Periodicals may not be checked out.
Reference Collection (619-849-2337)
Reference materials, including periodical indexes, are located in the Reference area. These items do not circulate.
Reserve (619-849-2312)
The Reserve Desk is located at the Circulation/Reserve Desk as you enter Ryan Library.
Photocopiers
Photocopiers are available in Reference, on Lower Level, and on Upper Level.
Special Collections (619-849-2337)
Ryan Library maintains several Special Collections, including:
Arminius Collection -- Works by or about James Arminius
Wesley Collection -- Works by or about John or Charles Wesley
Pre-Wesley Holiness -- Works by holiness authors writing prior to the Wesleys
Special Collections items do not circulate. They are available for use in the reference area by request.
InterLibrary Loan (619-849-2262)
Use our
InterLibrary Loan (ILL) service to request books and articles from other libraries. This service is available to all registered students and faculty/staff of PLNU.
Book Locations
Ryan Library uses the Dewey Decimal System of classification. The library online catalog is called
PHINEAS, and may be searched online at any time. Computer terminals are available for accessing PHINEAS on all levels of the library building. Circulating books are located on Lower, Middle and Upper Level.
