The California Commission on Teacher Credentialing requires possession of a multiple subject teaching credential or a single subject teaching credential. Point Loma Nazarene University provides a service to PLNU students and other individuals seeking credentialing in one or both areas by offering a U.S. Constitution self-study exam.


Nature of the test:

A self-study exam consisting of true/false, fill-in, and multiple choice questions.
(35 total points; requires a raw score of 25 to pass).


What to study:

  •  The Constitution of the United States and its Amendments, 
    • especially 1-10, 13-14 and 21-25 .
  • 2. Law Cases to review:

    • Marbury v. Madison (1803)
    • McCulloch v. Maryland (1819)
    • Gitlow v. New York (1925)
    • Brown v. The Board of Education (1954)
    • Roe v. Wade (1973)
    • Baker v. Carr
    • Miller v. California
    • Miranda v. Arizona
  • 3. Read: 

    • Read the Federalist Papers 51 and the first half of 10.
    • Read two encyclopedia articles on the Constitution and the court cases listed above.
