Point Loma Nazarene University School of Nursing offers both graduate and undergraduate programs. The Undergraduate Program offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. The program is offered at PLNU's main campus in San Diego, California. The Graduate Program offers a Master of Science in Nursing with an emphasis in Education. In addition, a Clinical Nurse Specialist option is available in Mental Health, Family Health, Gerontology, and Medical/Surgical. Post-MSN certificates for Nurse Educator and Clinical Nurse Specialist are also offered. The MSN program is offered at PLNU's Mission Valley Regional Center located in Mission Valley.
New Admissions Criteria for Transfer Students: Transfer students must have all
Pre-Requisite courses and Microbiology completed at the time of application to
the BSN program.
The application period for Fall 2010 is now closed.
APPLICATIONS for the BSN undergraduate program for Fall 2011
will be available in the School of Nursing office beginning December 1, 2010.
The application submission deadline is 4:00 p.m. February 1, 2011.

Consortium and affiliated hospitals, a background check and drug screening
will be required prior to your first clinical experience. If a red flag occurs from
either your background check or drug screening, this will result in immediate
dismissal from the Point Loma Nazarene University BSN program.

2011 semester of the MSN program will be accepted until December 13, 2010.

Thank you for visiting the Point Loma Nazarene University School of Nursing website! Point Loma Nazarene University has a wonderful academic history and it’s exciting to be growing into the 21st century. The School of Nursing (SON) is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education and is approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing. Our graduates are highly sought out in the San Diego community and throughout the world as their lives and careers expand.
The Christian aspect of the curricula and the spirituality of our students, fits perfectly with the fine-tuned skills they take with them into their professional lives. The SON faculty care about their students and take seriously their role as advisors throughout the challenges facing each nursing major. The relationships developed are genuine and lasting.
In 2002, we began our Master of Science in Nursing program with an emphasis on the education role of the nurse with four Clinical Nurse Specialist options in Med/Surg, Mental Health, Family and Geriatrics. While there is a critical shortage of nurses in the United States, there is an even more critical shortage of qualified nurse educators to prepare the next generation of nurses. Our graduate program is assisting with meeting this need.
