Clinical Background/Academic Focus:

Nicole has a background in medical-surgical nursing and is certified as a medical/surgical clinical nurse specialist in the state of California. She has an extensive background in inpatient and outpatient clinical research as a staff nurse, clinical educator, and clinical trials coordinator. Nicole also maintains an active certification as a public health nurse, and is a PhD student at the University of San Diego.  She is the faculty advisor for the pinning committee.

Research/Publications/Presentations:

  • Master's Thesis "The Utilization of Art Mediums in a Nursing Course to Foster Critical Thinking Ability in Baccalaureate Nursing Students", 2005
  • Poster Presenetation of Master's Thesis accepted for Sigma Theta Tau, Nursing Oydessy Research Conference in 2005.
  • Mareno (2006). Creating a nursing course with the great masters. Nursing Education Perspectives. 27(4).
  • Research interests include health behaviors and wellness in the young adult population.

Personal Note:

Nicole is passionate about the profession of nursing and loves being a nurse educator.  In her free time she enjoys spending time with her husband and family, reading, cooking, and spending time at the beach.
