DESCRIPTION OF PROGRAM

This four year liberal arts University is supported by the Church of the Nazarene. Students apply to the nursing program after completing one year of prenursing. They graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Students receive a wide variety of clinical experiences within numerous agencies in the community. LVN's and RN's licensed in the State of California are accepted into the program with advanced standing based on transfer of credit and credit-by-examination.
 

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Application available: December 1 of each year (For fall BSN program)
Application deadline: February 1 (Final spring transcrips must show successful completion of all prerequisite courses).
Admission date: Students are admitted to nursing and pre-nursing annually in the fall. We do not admit nursing students in the spring semester.
Tuition: 12-17 units $25,300/year (2009-2010 academic year)
Room and board: Shared room, 15 meals/week $8,100/year (2009-2010 academic year)

SPECIAL FEATURES OF PROGRAM

Class and clinical: Days; some evenings
Average number of clinical hours per week: 8 to 16 (usually Tuesday & Thursday)
Pre-entrance test: SAT for high school seniors (determines Freshman level Composition and Math requirement).
Units to complete the program: 128 semester units
Transfer Units: No credit earned in a community college after 70 semester units have been completed may be applied toward a degree.
Average class size: 9 - 70
Number of faculty: Full-time - 13; Part-time - 13
Faculty student ratio: Clinical agencies 1:6-10; maximum class size: 70
Time needed to complete program:
4 years if prerequisites are completed in one year
5 years if prerequisites are completed in two years
