The rain is falling on the Serengetti. I recall the words of one of my truly favorite songs of all time, "Africa" by Toto, "I bless the rains down in Africa; it's gonna take some time to do the things I never have...." I don't know what in the world they were singing about there, but now for me one of those things is not to go on an African safari! Wow.

We just finished our final meal at Camp Kicheche - "kicheche" is Swahili for mongoose - and soon we'll be leaving for the airstrip to catch Kenya Air back over to Nairobi.

We got up really early this morn for a final outing - the big highlights included four lions walking along a human jeep road, single file - three femals following a royally-maned male. (The rain is really pouring down now! - but it was beautiful during our last venture on the Mara.) We also saw a nice herd of munching elephants (they are particularly efficient eaters, it seems to me), and we were all  especially entranced by a mother and her child. Beautiful.

And then a little later to see three - no, wait, four! - little lion cubs all munching on leaves and twigs together was just absolute joy! (Mom was not far away.) There is no way to describe the marvels of the past three days - or for that matter the fine people with whom we shared these experiences. Wow.

Janice and I had a dream of a time, and we offer You our thanks.
