 PLNU will seek to provide a student who, first and foremost, has a heart for the Lord and ministry in the local church. The student will be selected through an application and interview process involving people who are familiar with and have ministered in Hawaii. Many of the students are praying about full-time ministry and are willing to open their hearts and minds to this growing experience.

Students who apply for the Hawaii Summer Outreach Team are from various majors and range in age. It is important to note that not all the students have a Nazarene background. Many PLNU students are from non-Nazarene traditions but still feel comfortable serving in a Nazarene setting. If it is important for a church to have a student with a Nazarene background, that needs to be indicated on the Student Request Form. It is also important that the Request Form be used to indicate if there are any specific requests regarding a student.

This is a time of learning for these students.  Pastors, congregations and host homes need to be prepared to walk with their student through both successes and failures.
