A word (or two) about last year...

from Bruce Curtis --  El Morro, CA  -- Adult Leader 2007

As an adult leader, I was most impressed by the commitment of the PLNU students who gave freely of their time and talent. I think they made the 2007 YouthWorks trip run much more smoothly and easily than would have been possible without them.  I was also amazed by the unity and focus of the teen participants, almost all of whom were ready to listen to the Holy Spirit and serve without hesitation. I personally witnessed God work dramatically in many lives and that was gratifying; I'll always carry those memories.  Also, much appreciation to PLNU staff for pulling off a logistical challenge like few we've done before. We're looking forward to seeing God perform many miracles and change lives again this year.

from Melissa Beck -- PLNU Student Staff 2007

YouthWorks was seriously a blast! I loved planning the VBS activities, even if we didn’t end up using a lot of our plans, learning and singing Spanish worship songs, living in tents, and eating awesome Mexican food everyday!!!  What I loved most however was making friendships with people I had never met before. Our team, Matheteo, was a group of mostly high school students, recent high school grads, some parents, a youth pastor, and one junior high girl. I loved watching us all do the same ministry work at our church even while we were all at different stages in life and different ages. We all connected on one common level. The way in which the trip is set up, with training beforehand, everyone meeting at PLNU and traveling down to Ensenada together, and then living for a week at a campsite really allowed for great bonding. I have been on numerous church camp and mission trips before, but this trip definitely stands out among my experiences. Without a doubt, I have to say that some of my most fun times and fulfilling moments were during this trip.

from AJ White -- San Clemente, CA -- Adult Leader 2007

When I left for Ensenada, Mexico last summer, I felt I had packed enough spare shirts to prepare me for a week down south. Spiritually, however, I was entirely overwhelmed by what God showed me in only seven days. Within that short amount of time, I made more sincere friends than an entire year in school. When it came time for us to depart, I found myself in tears as we repeatedly said our goodbyes, desperately wanting just a few more seconds with each other. No bridge could stand in our way. We conquered differences in nationality, race, and even language, all within seven days. We were united by God, and because of this trip I realized we all are.
