What happens on a YouthWorks trip?
High School students from all across PLNU's educational region (California, Arizona, New Mexico, Southern Nevada, & Hawaii), along with their youth sponsors rally at PLNU. We then depart to our destinations. Upon arrival, Mexican youth and sponsors from will meet us. We will stay at the Baja Nazarene campground, eat authentic food prepared by members of the nearby church, minister together through various means during the day, meet in small groups to debrief, and worship together in a common service at night.
How long are the trips?
In addition to the actual trip, expect to return to PLNU early for pre-trip training in addition to the dates of the actual trip.

Pre-trip Training: June 26-28, 2008

Do I need to speak Spanish to attend?
Spanish is not necessary. All communication will be translated into both languages

What are my responsibilities as a leader?
You will be expected to "set the bar" for appropriate behavior and cultural sensitivity for all participants.
In order to prepare for this crucial role, you must attend weekly trainings throughout Spring semester. These begin on Thurs., Feb. 7th, and continue every Thursday to the end of the semester. To see a calendar of committment expectations, view our
Involvement Timeline.
While on the mission, you will: conduct small group discussions, lead work teams, facilitate the YouthWorks staff with logistical details, enforce camp rules, and ... everything in between.
Does it cost anything?
Nope. We cover all your costs for the week and offer you a $50 stipend.
