Selections for the chapel bands take place during the fall semester, and require an application and references (download reference form). There are four bands made up of sophomore-senior students and one band composed of freshman students. Leading worship is of the utmost calling and a major part of the community at PLNU.
Philosophy of Chapel Band Selection and training
- Students should first be servants before being leaders. Humility, servant hood are the qualities these students should aspire to.
- We train and invest in these student led chapel bands for effective leadership here on campus as well as in a local church congregation. Students are encouraged to take these experiences from PLNU and invest in a church setting after the leave.
Currently we select 3 to 4 chapel bands which amount to a total of about 26 students. Each band has a leader that runs the rehearsals and is the contact person to the Director of Worship Ministries. The bands lead music in Chapel on a rotating schedule about 2-4 times a month. Students are encouraged to strive for excellence for the sole purpose to be effective and purposeful worship leaders.
