The 2009 Study Abroad Essay Contest is Here!

Photo Credit: Jay-Lo on Flikr.comDid your experience abroad evoke some interesting thoughts that you put on paper? We want to read about it! Enter the 2009 Study Abroad Essay Contest. Eligibility:
- Entrants must be a current or former PLNU student and have participated in a study abroad program during the Spring 09 and/or Summer 09 terms.
- The writing must be the original work of the entrant.
- Limit two submissions per entrant.
- Each entry must have a title
Criteria:
- Submissions can be an essay, journal entry(ies), a poem, or a song.
- Suggested essay topics are:
- Shaping Your Identity-How has your study abroad experience informed the
way you view yourself as an American and as a global citizen? 2. Foreign Policy- Based on your experience overseas, how do you think study abroad promotes mutual understanding with other countries and cultures to advance US foreign policy? 3. Countering Anti-Americanism Abroad- how did your experiences and interactions studying abroad further cross-cultural understanding between your host country and the United States, or perhaps correct a misperception within your host country about the United States and/or Americans?
3. There is no length requirement
4. You must submit an entry form.
** All entries become the property of the PLNU Study Abroad Office and may be used in the future accompanied by proper author credits.**
Prizes:
- Three winners will be chosen for first, second and third place
- First: $75
- Second: $50
- Third: $25
- The top 10 submissions will be displayed on the new 'Stories From Abroad' portion of the website.
