GENERAL TIPS

1.  Attend class, faithfully.
2.  Review information in small chunks each day.
3.  Find out what type of test will be given - Objective? Comprehensive? Essay? 
4.  Begin to study as soon as possible.
5.  Make up practice test questions.
6.  Review all quizzes, handouts, and graded assignments from the class.
7.  Maximize study time - study actively, not passively.
8.  Study with a group of students to compare notes.
9.  Get a good night's rest. 
10. Eat a high protein breakfast, not high on sugar.
11. Arrive at the exam location, early.

AT THE BEGINNING OF THE TEST

1. Find a comfortable seat, away from distractions.
2. Avoid panicky students.
3. Sign the exam and read isntructiosn carefully.
4. Preview the test for organization and point distribution.
5. On back of test paper, list any dates, theories, formulas you might forget.

DURING THE TEST

1. Observe point value and estimate time allowable for each question.
2. Do easy questions first.
3. Put a check mark before questions you do not immediately answer; come back and try these later.
4. For essay questions, jot down a quick outline of your answer, as a guide for writing.
4. Begin essay questions with a clear thesis statement.
5. Support the thesis with specific details.
6. Re-state thesis and summarize in last paragraph of essay.
7. Read your essay to see if it really supports your thesis.
8. Proofread for grammar, spelling and legible handwriting.
9. Re-read the test and your answers, before turning it in.

AFTER THE TEST

1. Check your text and notes to verify any answers that are in doubt.
2. Evaluate your test performance - would you do anything differently next time?
3. Note what you did right and reward yourself for a job well done.
