Admissions FAQ

Listed below are some of the most frequently asked questions the Office of Admissions receives. If you have additional questions, please contact your admissions counselor. We will be happy to assist you personally by phone or e-mail.

Application Questions

Q: When should I apply to PLNU?
A: If you're serious about applying to PLNU, you should apply in October of your senior year.

Q: When are the application deadlines?
A: November 15: Early Action, February 15: Priority Deadline

Q: What is early action?
A: Early action allows you to find out your admissions status at PLNU significantly earlier than you would under the regular application process. Early action has an application deadline of November 15, and we will send you an admissions decision by December 20. We strongly recommend early action if PLNU is in your top three choices for college. Early action is a non-binding application.

Q: Is an interview required when I apply?
A: No. All applicants, however, are encouraged to complete an admissions interview. Interviews are designed for the admissions staff to get to know the applicant in a more personal way.  On-campus interviews are strongly recommended, but we do offer phone interviews for students who live more than 300 miles from San Diego. You may use our campus visit page to schedule an interview.  Please schedule an interview at least 1 month prior to the application deadline.

Q: Can I apply for the spring semester?
A: PLNU does not currently admit freshmen for the spring semester.

A: The average SAT score for 2005-06 was 1153. The average ACT score was 25.

ColleGE Credit Questions

Q: Which courses can I test out of and what AP scores do I need in order to test out?
A: Please refer to our AP Credits Chart on the Transfer Credit webste.

Q: Can I test out of language requirements by taking the SAT II Subject Reading Test in French, Spanish, or German?
A: Students who want to waive the language requirement by test score must take the SAT II subject reading test before arriving to PLNU. The test is given at over 300 testing sites in California alone. Consult the College Board web site for locations and costs. Students with one to two years of high school language are not encouraged to take the exam since they rarely place out of even one semester of language. However, students with three to four years of language are encouraged to take the exam. Appropriate scores may waive one to four semesters of language. Scores must be sent to the Admissions office at PLNU.
