Q: What are the application deadlines for transfer students? A: February 15: Fall Semester October 1: Spring Semester
Q: Can I transfer before my general education courses are completed? A: Yes.
Q: How do I know which classes will transfer? A: If you attend a community college or another Nazarene college or university, check Point Loma's transfer agreements to see if your school is listed. The transfer agreements list course equivalents at PLNU and the college in question. You can view the transfer agreements at our Transfer Credit website. In all other cases, the Office of Records will evaluate your transcripts if you are accepted to the university and will make an official ruling as to which classes will transfer. The course descriptions in our academic catalog can also give you an idea of which courses may transfer (courses with similar descriptions are most likely to transfer). For any additional questions on transfering course work, please refer to our Transfer Credit website.
Q: What are the requirements for consideration? A: A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher is strongly recommended, and you must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 (based upon transferable units) in order to be considered for admission. You also need to submit all parts of the application by referring to the application checklist .
Q: Is an interview required when I apply? A: No. All applicants, however, are encouraged to complete an admissions interview. Interviews are designed for the admissions staff to get to know the applicant in a more personal way. On-campus interviews are strongly recommended, but we do offer phone interviews for students who live more than 300 miles from San Diego. You may use our campus visit page to schedule an interview. Please schedule an interview at least 1 month prior to the application deadline.
Q: How do I apply for financial aid? A: Two forms are required to apply for financial aid: the Application for Financial Assistance, which is part of the Undergraduate Application for Admission, and the FAFSA, which is submitted to the federal government. Both forms are available here. If you are admitted, you will be sent a financial aid award letter, outlining all of the financial aid for which you are eligible. For more information, see the Financial Aid Web site.
Q: Can I apply for the spring semester? A: Absolutely! The application deadline for the spring is October 1.
