All undergraduate (freshman, sophomore, junior and senior) students are required to have health and injury insurance coverage. A student insurance policy is automatically billed to all student accounts each semester. Students who have their own insurance coverage must go online and waive the student insurance. It is the obligation of each student to waive the student insurance by the deadline of the third week of each semester. There are no refunds after the deadline.
Graduate students may elect to choose the student policy. They must apply each semester in the PLNU Business Office prior to the deadline. Spousal and child coverage may also be added each semester.
Student insurance is not available for summer entry students until the fall semester.
If you remain on the student insurance, you may choose your provider. You can find your closest provider by searching the California Foundation for Medical Care databases. Claim forms can be obtained in the Wellness Center office during normal business hours. It is the student's responsibility to obtain claims, file claims and follow up on problems. The staff is very willing to answer questions and help in understanding how to file insurance.
