Graduate Programs in Arcadia

Closure of the Arcadia Regional Center

Thank you for considering Point Loma Nazarene University’s Graduate School of Education in your pursuit of higher education. Recently, Point Loma’s Board of Trustees made the difficult decision to close the Arcadia Regional Center. Students currently enrolled in programs at this campus will be allowed to complete their degrees and credentials over the next year, but no new students will be admitted to programs in Arcadia. This decision was made due to a number of factors and based on a multi-year assessment. Factors include a saturation of competitor schools in the area, a declining number of teachers seeking graduate degrees in the Los Angeles County region, a sustained declining enrollment in our programs, and the high cost of operation in the Los Angeles basin.

The Arcadia Regional Center has been an important part of PLNU since our campus moved from the Pasadena area to San Diego in 1973. There have many significant points of learning and connection through our programs in Arcadia, and there is a deep regard for the faculty and staff who serve there and the students we have been privileged to serve. As you can imagine, this was not an easy decision to make.

Point Loma’s Inland Empire Regional Center located in Corona will remain open. Should you be interested in enrolling in one of our programs in Corona, please contact Kristi Toth at (951)273-7466 or kristitoth@pointloma.edu.
