Spring NSO Information
NSO Information
NSO is a great experience designed to help students and parents/guests become acclimated to university life. First you check in – then you check out everything PLNU has to offer you over your years here. Meet new friends and your professors, ask questions, collect information, and explore options. It is our way of welcoming you to the PLNU community.
NSO Parent/Guest Hotel Information
For Hotel information, links, sponsors and more, check out the Hotel Partnerships of PLNU and Visitor's Guide and Sponsors.
Your Major
During NSO, you will meet several times with faculty and students in your academic major area. All students are encouraged to select a major in an area of study they plan to pursue or in which they have an interest even if their choice is tentative. Click here for a list of majors, minors and concentrations.
Student Handbook
PLNU's Student Handbook has been designed to answer questions relating to student life and is a valuable resource as you begin your university experience. Visit Student Handbook and spend some time becoming familiar with PLNU's opportunities and expectations.
StrengthsQuest
What Is StrengthsQuest?
Imagine an environment where what is good, right, and healthy about you is identified, encouraged, and fostered to grow. PLNU strives to be such a place by utilizing the StrengthsQuest assessment tool. You will find that this will be used in several key components of your college experience.
How do I take it?
Prior to your arrival, you will have the opportunity to take the StrengthsQuest assessment through your PLNU portal (my.pointloma.edu). For help setting up your portal or finding the assessment, please call (619) 849-2222.
Learning More About Your Strengths
After taking the assessment, you will receive a customized report listing your top five strengths and suggestions on how to productively apply this to your life. This report will help you gain insight on how you can use your strengths to be successful personally and academically as a student at PLNU. Once you arrive on campus, you will also have the opportunity to learn more about your strengths in the Office of Strengths and Vocation through several different programs.
Please visit our website at www.pointloma.edu/Strengths for more information on the assessment tool and to learn more about the other opportunities to explore your strengths. We hope you enjoy taking the assessment and learning more about your strengths!
ZipCar Is Another Option
Great news! PLNU has partnered with ZipCar, a car sharing program. This program allows students, 18 years of age and older, to rent a car to get around San Diego. Visit zipcar.com/plnu to begin the process of membership and once approved you can have access to a ZipCar 24 hours a day for a minimum hourly fee.
