Meet Thomas
Year: Junior

> A San Diego native, Thomas loves PLNU for the new opportunities it offers him. He's excelling in nursing and thriving - getting involved and forming long-lasting relationships. 

 How and why did you choose PLNU?

PLNU was my first choice when applying to schools in San Diego. What made PLNU stick out more than others was the School of Nursing and, of course, the beautiful campus! 

Do you have any go-to places on campus to hang out or study?

The go-to place on campus to study would be the Ryan Library’s the third floor, right in front of the big window. Nothing gets better then watching the sunset while studying. The go-to hang out place would be in the gymnasium during open gym hours. Playing basketball and lifting weights is always relaxing. 

What are some of your favorite places in San Diego?

My favorite place in San Diego is Harbor Island. My friends and I would always go there to just hangout at night and watch the beautiful San Diego skyline. 

What’s your favorite concoction in the Caf?

Root beer floats!

Have you had a class that has been particularly inspirational for you so far?

The Race and Ethnicity class I am taking right now is part of the off-campus Community Classroom in City Heights. In class, we learn a lot about the community and being able to see it first hand is eye opening. Having guest speakers come in and tell us about their story was inspirational. For the class, we are encouraged to go out into the community and experience it first hand. Volunteering and going to the farmers' market in the community have been my favorite activities in the class.

What is one thing you wished you knew before coming to college?

One thing I wish I knew before coming to college would be time management. I spent an entire semester trying to figure out how to manage my time wisely.

There are a lot of outdoor activities around San Diego – do you do any?

I enjoy hiking Cowles Mountain in the morning and getting breakfast burritos right after with friends.
