Pre-Law

Department of History and Political Science
Department of Sociology and Social Work

Do you value logical argumentation and the administration of justice? Are you a good critical thinker and writer? Consider law school!

Overview

If you want to go to law school, you can choose any major for your time at PLNU, but law schools love students with a broad background of liberal arts studies, with emphasis placed on political science and sociology. Students are also encouraged to contact pre-law advisors early in their academic careers.

PLNU's pre-law cooperative programs are advised by practicing attorney Dr. Michael McKinney, J.D. and Dr. Rick Kennedy. Faculty members are available to advise and encourage students, write recommendation letters, facilitate entrance exams and practice interviews, and critique application materials. The program also helps students prepare by bringing speakers to the university in small-group settings. Guests include law school admissions officers, practicing attorneys, judges, and others involved in legal careers. Assistance is also available for students of any major or area of study that have an interest paralegal, government, or other law-related arenas.
