Admissions Policies

The Early Childhood Learning Center is operated on a non-discriminatory basis, according equal treatment to all applicants without regard to race, ethnicity national origin or ancestry.

Initial Enrollment

First priority is given to children of regular full-time Point Loma Nazarene University faculty and staff, part-time faculty and staff, full-time students, then siblings of current and former ECLC students.

Enrollment will then be offered to those on the wait list according to the date they first put their child on the list with consideration given to the child's date of birth.

The Early Childhood Learning Center makes every effort to accommodate parent's first choice of days and times after their child has been accepted for enrollment.  The ECLC reserves the right to balance age, gender, special needs, and full and half day sessions.

We reserve full day, five days a week placement for children of parents who both work full time. This policy is part of the philosophy of the Center and supported by research.

Children with special needs will be accepted if our program is able to meet their needs. The Early Childhood Learning Center will meet with parents to develop a plan that facilitates the best way to help meet the needs of the child.

Any child whose behavior upsets or disturbs the total school program will be excluded until (intervention and) more maturity has taken place.

Second Year Enrollment

First priority for scheduling is given to children of regular full-time Point Loma Nazarene University faculty and staff, part-time faculty and staff, full-time students, then returning ECLC community students.

The Early Childhood Learning Center makes every effort to accommodate parents first choice of days and times.  The ECLC reserves the right to balance age, gender, special needs, and full and half day sessions.

The schedule that your child received for the first year is not guaranteed to be the same schedule that your child will receive their second year of enrollment.

Change of Enrollment Status

Parents may make request to permanently change their child’s status by submitting a written request two weeks in advance of their desired change. Approval will be based on availability, scheduling demands and other factors, and will always be based on the needs of the program. Temporary changes must also be submitted in writing in advance and be approved prior to the change. The office assistant has Request for Status Change forms if you need them.

Withdrawal

Parents must provide at least a two-week written notice to the ECLC before removing their child from the program. This two-week notice period excludes those weeks in which the Center is closed. Tuition charges and refunds are based on the last date of actual attendance or two weeks after notice is received by the ECLC, whichever is later. Assuming proper notice is given, when the last date of attendance occurs in the first half of the month, one half of the tuition charged for that month will be refunded. There are no tuition refunds when the last date of attendance occurs at any point after the 15th of the month.

Fees

September - May  2014-2015

The cost of the total program, September-May, is divided into nine equal payments. Hence, the fee is the same for each month, regardless of holidays and vacations, and is not refundable in case of absences. The cost of the program continues when a child is absent, and only continuing payment of the scheduled fees can hold a place. The first month tuition payment will be due September 1st and, thereafter, the first week of each month. The last scheduled tuition payment will be May 1st.

In addition, a $50 supply fee will be included with the first tuition payment of each semester in September and January.

Statements are sent to your home from the Point Loma Nazarene University Business Office and will include envelopes to mail in your payments.  Payments are sent to:

Summer Session 2015 (Optional)

The entire four-week summer session tuition payment will be due June 1st.
