Background

In January 2010, Cathy L. Gallagher assumed the role of Director of the Fermanian Business & Economic Institute (FBEI), following the restructure of the Fermanian Business Center, of which she was manager since August 2005. She has worked in several areas including: administration, development, and human resources since starting at PLNU in May 2003. Gallagher brings 20 years of business experience to her role at the FBEI, including experience in sales, marketing, professional training, business development, event planning, management, and leadership. Prior to joining PLNU, she served as owner, operator, and manager for several small businesses on the east coast.

Gallagher has extensive knowledge and contacts in the local San Diego business community and is active in several business organizations. She is responsible for planning and implementation of strategic initiatives for the FBEI and building awareness of the many programs and resources that further its mission and goals.  One of her primary roles as director is in business development.  She works closely with businesses both in and out of the San Diego region to develop collaborative, strategic, and mutually beneficial partnerships and bring added value to the academic experience of PLNU’s students and various firms.

Additionally, she works to establish new programs, resources, and opportunities for both undergraduate and MBA students to enhance their professional development and complement their academic experience. Her background and relationship with industry leaders allows her to provide solutions to businesses in a dynamic business and economic environment.  These valuable connections lead to career counseling, internship opportunities, job placement, mentoring, speaking engagements, and business to business connections with related professionals in the community who assist the FBEI in equipping students to be the next generation of business leaders.

Gallagher is currently pursuing a B.A. degree in Business Administration at PLNU. She currently resides in Point Loma with her husband of 25 years and has 2 grown children, and 1 grandchild.
