Background

Dieter Mauerman joined the staff of the Fermanian Business and Economic Institute (FBEI) as Research Assistant in January 2010. His primary role in his current position as Business and Economic Research Associate includes managing and directing research teams for business and economic consulting contracts.  He also conducts market research, data analysis, as well as other qualitative and quantitative analysis.

Mauerman holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration as well as a Master’s of Business Administration from the Fermanian School of Business at PLNU.  His experience in studying in London during his undergraduate degree and participating in an MBA trip to Portugal, France, and Croatia, have given him unique perspective to address some of the most complex issues the FBEI faces in consulting.

Mauerman works with the FBEI on numerous projects in a wide range of industries including bio-inspiration, construction, defense, real estate, tourism, and various non-profit industries.  He also provides economic analysis along with Chief Economist, Lynn Reaser for California State Controller, John Chiang.  In addition, Mauerman is the primary analyst responsible for compiling and updating the Da Vinci Index, a market index which measures activity in the field of bio-inspiration.

Dieter is an active member of the National Association for Business Economics and has taken courses in Applied Econometrics, Data Analytics, Strategy and Managerial Decision-making, Technical Writing, and Presentations Skills.  He is expected to earn the designation Certified Business Economist (CBE) in the fall of 2014.

Dieter is excited to be on the FBEI team and the organizations that it works with. He looks forward to further developing his experience, skills, and relationships within the San Diego business community.
